LITITZ, Pa. —
An aircraft in distress is circling the Lancaster Airport, preparing to make a landing, according to Manheim Township police.
Manheim Township Police Sergeant Waltz confirmed a plane is circling the Lancaster Airport because of a landing gear issue.

Waltz didn’t know what kind of plane it was or how many people are aboard.
WGAL has a crew on the way to the scene.

Crash earlier this year
In March, a plane taking off from Lancaster Airport crashed into a nearby retirement community.
The pilot and one passenger were seriously injured when the plane went down in the Brethren Village parking lot and caught fire. Three other passengers suffered minor injuries.

Heat advisory issued for South-Central Pa. with heat index expected to hit 104 degrees

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of South Central Pennsylvania for Thursday.
Heat index values up to 104 degrees are expected. The WGAL News 8 Storm Team has designated Thursday as an Impact Day, due to the heat. An Impact Day means the day could feature weather that will disrupt your normal daily schedule or routine.

The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the following Susquehanna Valley counties.
- Adams County
- Cumberland County
- Dauphin County
- Franklin County
- Lancaster County
- Lebanon County
- Perry County
- York County
There is also a heat advisory for Berks and Chester counties from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Precautions
Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and stay in air-conditioned spaces.
Check on relatives and neighbors, and ensure pets have adequate water and shelter from the sun.
Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
To reduce risks during outdoor work, OSHA recommends taking frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
